What is container transportation?

Container transportation is the process of packing goods into standard-sized metal boxes and then transporting these containers from one location to another by different modes of transportation, such as ships, trains, and trucks.

1、Container size

(1) 40-foot containers, usually referred to as 40GP and 40HQ. 45-foot containers are usually considered to be special containers.
(2) 20-foot container, usually refers to 20GP.

2. LCL means? What about the FCL container

(1) LCL (Less than Container Load) refers to a container with more than one owner of the goods, loaded less than a full container of small quantities of goods is LCL cargo, by the LCL cargo (LCL-LCL) to operate.
(2) Full Container (Full Container Load) refers to a container with only one owner or manufacturer of the goods, which can be filled with one or more full containers of larger quantities of goods is a full container of goods, by the full container cargo (FCL-FCL) to operate.

 

3、What are the common specifications of containers?

(1) 40-foot high-cabinet (40HC): 40 feet long, 9 feet 6 inches high, about 12.192 meters long, 2.9 meters high, 2.35 meters wide, generally loaded about 68CBM.
(2) The 40-foot general purpose container, commonly referred to as a 40GP, measures approximately 12.192 meters in length, 2.6 meters in height, and 2.35 meters in width. It typically accommodates a volume of about 58 cubic meters (CBM).
(3) 20-foot General Purpose Container (20GP): 20 feet long, 8 feet 6 inches high, about 6.096 meters long, 2.6 meters high, 2.35 meters wide, generally loaded about 28CBM.
(4) 45-foot high container (45HC): 45 feet long, 9 feet 6 inches high, about 13.716 meters long, 2.9 meters high, 2.35 meters wide, generally loaded with about 75CBM.

 

4. What is the difference between 40HQ and 40GP?

40HQ than 40GP higher one foot (one foot equals 30.44cm). The length and width are the same whether it is a 40HQ or a 40GP.

 

5、What is the weight of the Container? What about the DV container?

(1) Self-weight of the container: the weight of the container itself. 20GP’s self-weight of about 1.7 tons, 40GP’s self-weight of about 3.4 tons.

(2) DV container: is the container loaded with goods

1. DC means Dry Container, 20GP, 40GP, 40HQ, etc. are dry containers.
